An assignment to create a postage stamp featuring a famous graphic designer of our choosing. My selection was Saul Bass, whose work has since had a major influence on the way I approach design. His use of high contrast with simple shape and movement is very pleasing to look at, as well as clear and to the point. I did my best to emulate these stylistic choices when making this piece.
A faux magazine that would feature everything on the subject of horror. In the December issue, the focus is on the genre of cosmic horror, which was pioneered by American author H.P. Lovecraft and continued through artists like John Carpenter, who has an interview featured in one of the articles.
This publication also features one of Lovecraft's classical tales, The Statement of Randolph Carter.
A semester-long brand development project. I chose to create a faux video streaming service that was dedicated to the preservation an education of film history, focusing on classic and hard-to-find films in a stable video library.
The project includes logo, magazine advertisements, a television and computer app, and an animated text sequence.
A set of merchandise created to support a social issue of our choosing. This could be a serious topic or a lighthearted one; I chose the latter. The set includes t-shirts, bumper stickers, 1" button pins, and a brochure.
The program seeks to bring a puppy room to college and high school campuses. These would bring revenue for animal shelters and pet adoption agencies, help stressed-out students, and advocate for volunteer opportunities. Plus who doesn't love puppies?
The premise of this set of work was to choose a typeface and design a beer brand based around at least three styles of that font. I chose a typeface that I frequently use, Univers.
Its versatility and variation make for very flexible use in design, and I tried to tailor this beer brand to reflect that. Multiple flavors and strengths suit different tastes, all holding a cohesive theme of space exploration.
I've been hooked on the music genre of synthwave. Since then, I've discovered many new artists, one of which I hold in very high regard. Scandroid features a contemporary take on 80s retro synth music, and I can't get enough of it.
For the album, I decided to design what an anniversary issue might look like, creating a simpler layout that both keeps with the artist's original aesthetic and stands out on its own.
Accompanying the magazine, website, and movie trailer examples, this is a small set of packaging for a gift bag subscribers could send to friends as a welcome to the service.
The set here includes the gift bag, a DVD case, and a gift card. The most fun I had was creating the little black bar animation on the gift card. It creates the optical illusion that there’s a film reel spinning when you remove the card from the case!
